regulators were poised to hit BNP

France’s
top EU official on last Thursday (12 June) suggested US regulators scale back a
massive fine set to cost French bank BNP Paribas billions for its non-compliance
with US sanctions.
The
record $10bn (￡6bn) fine that the US wants to impose on BNP Paribas could stall
negotiations to establish a major transatlantic free trade zone, France's
foreign minister has warned.
